About American Life Skills Academy

An education and investigation firm in Houston, Texas, built to give people, businesses, and attorneys information they can trust.

Our Story

We started American Life Skills Academy because we saw good people — and busy professionals — making decisions with incomplete information. A small business owner missing a tax advantage. A family filing a form with a mistake on page nine. A criminal defense attorney closing a case without seeing the immigration consequence behind it.

We believe something simple: when one person gets correct and complete information, the whole community grows stronger. A steady business hires neighbors. A correct filing keeps a family together. A well-briefed attorney protects a client's future.

Today we advise small business owners, investigate for local law firms, triage immigration exposure in criminal cases, review filings for individuals, and teach in-person intensives for professionals across Texas.

We would be honored to work with you, too.

Our Founder

Edwardo Rodriguez

Founder & Director · Licensed Texas Private Investigator · District 18 Director, Texas LULAC

Edwardo Rodriguez founded American Life Skills Academy in 2004 after eight years in federal immigration enforcement. From 1996 to 2003 he served with the U.S. Department of Justice at the Immigration and Naturalization Service — the agency that became ICE, CBP, and USCIS under the Department of Homeland Security — and from 2003 to 2004 with DHS/ICE as a Deportation Officer. He left the agency that same year convinced that most people, and most professionals, were making critical decisions on incomplete information.

His federal career gave him a rare, inside view of how immigration enforcement, intelligence, and interagency coordination actually work. He co-founded and commanded the first nationally certified INS Special Response Tactical Unit, and he served as an Intelligence Officer on the first INS Counterintelligence Joint Terrorism Task Force alongside FBI, CIA, Department of Defense, Department of State, NSA, and Texas Department of Public Safety personnel.

Today he chairs the Immigration Committee of the Greater Houston Coalition for Justice, serves as District 18 Director on the Texas LULAC State Board, and consults with businesses, attorneys, and community organizations on immigration policy, compliance, and practical decision-making. He remains a licensed Texas Private Investigator and continues to brief professionals on what the law actually requires right now.
